The Fall

CA$2,000.00

In this oil painting the polar bear journeys through the arctic night, unaware, that a red maple leaf falls before him from above.

This leaf is a red sugar maple leaf that has changed from its summer green to red with the arrival of fall. (The sugar maple leaf is also Canada's national symbol and the the majority of the world's polar bears reside in Canada. )

For the polar bear, autumn brings the promise of the sea ice so necessary for this marine mammal's survival.

The maple leaf does not exist in this polar bear’s arctic world, but it is the actions of those of us in our maple-treed south, that are the major influence on the future of his survival.

30” x 30” x 1.5”. Wired, ready to hang. Certificate of Authenticity.
