Once again, as in most of my paintings, I show a portrait of a beautiful, intelligent polar bear on its solitary journey in the arctic night. The aurora borealis (northern lights) dance strongly behind him.

My polar bear oil paintings have evolved from my realism portrait business, and as in my portraits, there is very little texture to the paint. I had some fun with this one and tried to show the bears shaggy fur - he looks like he just popped out of the ocean- caught in the beautiful light of the northern lights and starry sky.
