About Reverence 5 - Reflection
Reflection, the 5th painting in the Reverence Series is a beautiful original oil painting of a polar bear sitting on an ice floe. The northern lights dance wildly behind this bear who appears to be watching the show reflected in the water. The paintings in the Reverence Series are about reverence to the wonder, beauty and mystery of nature, the arctic, the wild and of course, the polar bear.
The northern lights aren’t really these colours but I have used my artistic license to emphasize how magical witnessing the aurora is! Even our mighty polar bear is impressed.
Red highlights and edges symbolize our connection to the bear through lifeline and love.
As in the Reverence paintings the polar bear is seated upon a small ice floe surrounded by dark water. We are to remember that it is the frozen sea this bear needs to survive. The northern lights symbolize hope.
The original is 12” x 12” x 1.5” oil painting on canvas and is sold, but reproductions are available in a variety of sizes and substrates HERE.

(private collection)
In The Polar Bear King Roars, the mighty polar reminds us who has the last word. One-on-one who or whatever faces the polar bear doesn’t stand much of a chance. But climate change, is an insidious foe that our mighty bear might not have †he chance to circumvent.
ere is always a story to my Polar Bear King paintings. The imagined emotion on the bear’s face, the placement of the bear in relation to the sun, and the artwork’s title all contribute to that story.
The metallic gold paint plays a large part as it symbolizes the richness of nature, the royalty of the apex predator bear. It also symbolizes climate change and our warming planet.
This is a mixed media (graphite & black, white & gold metallic acrylic paint) painting.
It is on a 6" h x 12” w x 1 3’8" deep canvas. The edges are painted gold.

The profile of this handsome, intelligent bear faces right, symbolically looking to the future. Behind him a metallic gold sun radiates. This polar bear oil painting portrait shows a bright eyed polar bear against a stylized arctic night sky of swirling northern lights (aurora borealis) and stars. I created this in one long continuous painting session. I was thinking of the movement in Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” as I did so, and I had also decided on the title “Sky Spirit”. It wasn't until I put down my brush for the day, that I noticed the stylized "s" of the northern lights. This polar bear oil painting is another in my series "Polar Bear Dreams" Series, paintings that pay tribute to these mighty arctic mammals whose future is "of concern".Edges are painted. Wired and ready for hanging. Certificate of Authenticity provided.

Polar bear portrait oil painting (6" x 12"). Through searching online, I discovered Silatuyok is the Inuit word for cute, intelligent, and shrewd. & so the perfect title for this polar bear art. But as adorable as the big polar bear may seem, I have given a nod to his real nature – an intelligent, playful, but deadly predator – by making sure his giant claws on those polar bear paws are clear. I love painting those big paws with the claws, almost as much painting as those thickly insulated polar bear ears, and the polar bear's coal - black nose. Private collection.
